UBS's Holt research team released a report on July 6 stating that the AI industry value chain is undergoing a structural shift, with the value creation capability of AI infrastructure represented by high-performance memory and semiconductor equipment far surpassing that of traditional internet and hyperscale cloud service providers. The report shows that the "economic profit" of the global AI infrastructure group will surge from approximately $200 billion in 2023 to a projected $1.4 trillion in 2027, a staggering 600% increase, while hyperscale cloud service providers' economic profit is only expected to grow from $200 billion to $400 billion over the same period. UBS estimates that the top five economic profit generators in 2027 will be Nvidia, Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Micron Technology, and Alphabet, with semiconductor and hardware companies occupying four of the five spots. Three years ago, Holt's forecast framework listed Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta, and Amazon as the top five economic profit creators in the industry. By 2027, Nvidia, Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron, and Alphabet will take the lead.
